about

The first collection of Sudden Ensemble material, titled "A.M.11", was compiled and issued by art music impresario Gerhard Potuznik for his label Angelika Koehlermann. The recordings were transferred via Tascam 4-Track and displayed a fractured, scuzz rock minimalism. The inner jacket aptly described the group and it's approach (lovingly transgressive spontaneous composition). Despite the pseudo-street style and air of bravado in the vocal delivery, the themes and overall feel of the disc betray a deep-wounded sense of melancholy which adds a certain gravitas to the collection.

Upon its release, legendary British DJ John Peel took a liking to Sudden Ensemble's AM11 and featured many of the record's songs in his Radio One and BBC World Service shows.
