about

Life In A Birdcage. The 2nd album from SE is something like the first day after the summer solstice: it is still summer, but you sense that the days are already getting shorter. With bursts of power and moments of exuberance, the musical styles appear in skewed-randomness like country-blues and skronky rock viewed through a broken pane of glass. The demo material, available here, provides an intriguing link between the lo-fi charm of AM11 and the “go-for-the-brass-ring” bravado that lifts some of Birdcage. Anyway. Like they say, it doesn’t pay to be satisfied.
